Dr. Eowyn, Gallup Poll: Only 25% support a ban on handguns

Dr. Eowyn

With all the #BLM and Antifa riots and violence, it’s no suprise that according to the latest Gallup poll, Americans are less likely to call for increased gun control than they have been since 2016 .

From Sept. 30 to Oct. 15, 2020, in telephone interviews with a minimum quota of 70% cellphone respondents and 30% landline respondents, Gallup polled a national random sample of 1,035 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. The margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.

Here are the poll results:

  • Support for a ban on the possession of handguns:
    • Only 25% support a ban on handguns, which is a decrease of 18 percentage points from its 1991 high, and is near the lowest on record in Gallup’s 40-year trend.
    • 74% of U.S. adults say such a ban should not be put in place.

  • Support for stricter laws governing the sale of firearm:
    • While a majority of 57% support stricter laws covering the sale of firearms, this is a seven-percentage-point decline since last year. Note that in 1990, as many as 78% of U.S. adults wanted stricter laws for the sale of firearms.
    • 34% of U.S. adults prefer that gun laws be kept as they are now.
    • 9% would like gun laws to be less strict.
  • Those who want stricter gun-sales laws:
    • More women (67%) than men (46%).
    • More Democrats (85%) and Independents (60%) than Republicans (22%).
    • More non-gunowners (72%) than gunowners (26%).
    • More blue than red states: East (68%), West (63%), Midwest (50%), South (49%).
    • More residents of cities (65%) and suburbia (58%) than rural (46%).
  • Mass-shooting false-flags like Sandy Hook and Parkland work, but only for a time. Gallup points out that “Americans’ preferences for tougher gun control have generally peaked in the wake of prominent mass shootings and waned as the memory of each fades.”

The 2nd Amendment and the Politics of Gun Control (14 June 2020)

President Trump is a staunch supporter of our Second Amendment right, whereas Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the Democrat Party are for gun control. See:

Given these poll findings — of a decline in Americans’ support for gun control — it’s all the more curious that supposedly Biden won the 2020 presidential election.

    1. I don’t blame you. She’s a very wise woman. I immediately thought she must have Sioux blood in her, but surprisingly, she’s of Norwegian heritage.
I would love to sit and have a beer with her and find out what she REALLY believes re this ‘vid nonsense.

  1. dK…Any thief/murderer that ignorant needs not only to go to prison for life, but to first be placed in a pillory and pelted with all form of vegetable, fruits and rotten meat by mothers and brothers in crime to discourage anyone else who may have that level of ineptitude.

  2. It continues to be an intriguing mystery as to WHY the Dems would be behind the BLM and ANTIFA riots. Even my dog would have no problem understanding that out of control riots and defunding police would stimulate gun sales and support for the 2nd Amendment. Self defense is not an option in todays world….it’s a necessity if your common sense and survival instincts are still intact. If they are not, it may be best to stay in grandmas basement, join a seminary or turn yourself into your local self-storage padded cell facility.

  3. I forgot to mention the photo in my last comment of the supposed hero of Colorado’s last mass shooting. He is second from right. Can you imagine this level of joviality right after a mass shooting? The guy second from left is a well known sports star agent. I always bring my sports agent when I do my hero’s victory lap press appearance after mass shootings, don’t you?

  4. I have not checked lately on the wait time for a gun purchase approval. Colorado peaked at 10 days back in the spring. Then it was 7 days for quite a while. This story sold a bunch more guns: There is a murder case here in Eagle County being decided right now. A bizarre story of a Maryland couple who came out here to the promised land and failed to find their fortune in Denver. So the came up here and broke into a well known socialite’s mansion, robbed her and murdered her.

What got them caught?… calling an UBER for their get-a-way car! People in this particular neighborhood don’t call UBER, they have their driver fire up the Bentley! A neighbor noticed the Uber waiting and the lights on way too late for this particular senior, otherwise the perps might have gotten away with it. Of course when you load the uber with freshly stolen goods, that could raise an eye brow with any driver. When the Sheriff showed up, they followed a trail of jettisoned booty into the dark moonless night following their fresh tracks in the snow. The couple gave up hiding because they were about to go hypothermic and die in the woods. It shook this valley to the core since murders happen less often than unicorn and bigfoot sightings.
