Hate to be a spoil sport. great article, but the name of the ship is not EVERGREEN, it’s Ever Given. The Taiwanese company that handles the ship is Evergreen Marine. The real name, Ever Given, is on the stern of the ship.

Are you looking at the stern or the side of the vessel? It does say “EVERGREEN” in giant letters on the side. That seems to be the convention with these big container ships. The company name is very conspicuous on the side. You can see others that have “MAERSK” or “MATSON” on the side. Those are not the names of the specific vessel.
I tried enlarging the linked photo, and I can’t see it clearly enough to see what it actually says. It’s just a blur, but I do know many reports have stated the name of the ship is the “Ever-Given”. The public seems to be very confused by this because it says EVERGREEN very clearly on the the side. But the name of almost any boat or ship is displayed on the stern, not the side.
I hesitate to take this further. BUT, we may consider the reason they made the Evergreen so visible in all the early pics was to make certain we peasants would see the connection to the truck carrying the Evergreen container blocking traffic on a major highway in China. As usual, if we accept this premise, we are being played with hubris that is palatable.
