Jefferson Morley, After Mossad Targeted Soleimani, Trump Pulled the Trigger

Jefferson Morley

Last October Yossi Cohen, head of Israel’s Mossad, spoke openly about assassinating Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, the head of the elite Quds Force in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

“He knows very well that his assassination is not impossible,” Cohen said in an interview. Soleimani had boasted that the Israel’s tried to assassinate him in 2006 and failed.

“With all due respect to his bluster,” Cohen said, “he hasn’t necessarily committed the mistake yet that would place him on the prestigious list of Mossad’s assassination targets.”

“Is Israel Targeting Iran’s Top General for Assassination?” I asked on October 24. On Thursday, Soleimani was killed in an air strike ordered by President Trump.

Soleimani’s convoy was struck by U.S. missiles as he left a meeting at Baghdad’s airport amid anti-Iranian and anti-American demonstrations in Iraq. Supporters of an Iranian-backed militia had agreed to withdraw from the U.S. diplomatic compound in return for a promise that the government would allow a parliamentary vote on expelling 5,000 U.S. troops from the country.

The Pentagon confirmed the military operation, which came “at the direction of the president” and was “aimed at deterring future Iranian attack plans.” The Pentagon claimed in a statement that Gen. Soleimani was “actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region.”

Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, under indictment for criminal charges, was the first and only national leader to support Trump’s action, while claiming that that Trump acted entirely on his own.

“Just as Israel has the right to self-defense, the United States has exactly the same right,” Netanyahu told reporters in Greece. “Qassem Soleimani is responsible for the deaths of American citizens and other innocents, and he was planning more attacks.”

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani vowed retaliation for the general’s death,  tweeting that “Iran will take revenge for this heinous crime.”

Capable Foe

Soleimani was the most capable foe of the United States and Israel in the region. As chief of the Al-Quds force, Soleimani was a master of Iran’s asymmetric warfare strategy, using proxy forces to bleed Iran’s enemies, while preserving the government’s ability to plausibly deny involvement.

After the U.S. invasions of Iraq, he funded and trained anti-American militias that launched low-level attacks on U.S. occupation forces, killing upward of 600 U.S. servicemen and generating pressure for U.S. withdrawal.

In recent years, Soleimani led two successful Iranian military operations: the campaign to drive ISIS out of western Iraq in 2015 and the campaign to crush the jihadist forces opposed to Syria’s Bashar al-Assad. The United States and Israel denounced Iran’s role in both operations but could not prevent Iran from claiming victory.

Soleimani had assumed a leading role in Iraqi politics in the past year. The anti-ISIS campaign relied on Iraqi militias, which the Iranians supported with money, weapons, and training. After ISIS was defeated, these militia maintained a prominent role in Iraq that many resented, leading to demonstrations and rioting. Soleimani was seeking to stabilize the government and channel the protests against the United States when he was killed.

In the same period, Israel pursued its program of targeted assassination. In the past decade Mossad assassinated at least five Iranian nuclear scientists, according to Israeli journalist Ronen Bergman, in an effort to thwart Iran’s nuclear program. Yossi Melman, another Israeli journalist, says that Mossad has assassinated 60-70 enemies outside of its borders since its founding in 1947, though none as prominent as Soleimani.

Israel also began striking at the Iranian-backed militias in Iraq last year. The United States did the same on December 29, killing 19 fighters and prompting anti-American demonstrations as big as the anti-Iranian demonstrations of a month ago.

Now the killing of Soleimani promises more unrest, if not open war. The idea that it will deter Iranian attacks is foolish.

“This doesn’t mean war,” wrote former Defense Department official Andrew Exum, “It will not lead to war, and it doesn’t risk war. None of that. It is war.“

The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported a year ago that Washington had given Israel the green light to assassinate Soleimani. Al-Jarida, which in recent years has broken exclusive stories from Israel, quoted a source in Jerusalem as saying that “there is an American-Israeli agreement” that Soleimani is a “threat to the two countries’ interests in the region.” It is generally assumed in the Arab world that the paper is used as an Israeli platform for conveying messages to other countries in the Middle East.

Trump has now fulfilled the wishes of Mossad. After proclaiming his intention to end America’s “stupid endless wars,” the president has effectively declared war on the largest country in the region in solidarity with Israel, the most unpopular country in the Middle East.

HERE IS A GOOD ONE – Iran just designated the U.S. armed forces as terrorist organizations
Actually, they are spot on. During “shock and awe” against a totally innocent country that did nothing to the U.S., pregnant women were so terrified they miscarried. If that is not terror, what is? And if you disagree, try to come up with ONE (1) reason America attacked Iraq to begin with that was not a lie. There was none. Having the biggest gun does not mean everyone beneath the barrel, who can’t adequately fight back, is a terrorist and it also does not mean you have a right to just make crap up and then kill millions, even if you can get away with it because no one can stop you. One thing is certain: The arab world is indeed terrified of the United States and does not worry about suicide bombers. There are fewer of those in the entire world than gang bangers shooting each other in ONE Detroit neighborhood. No arab is ever going to see it happen and they know it.

  3. This is a cut and paste from Stone’s site. A while back, he had asked not to link to his site. So, I am respecting those wishes.

VERY important and loaded with information you will not find consolidated in one place. Please read.

Iran report, three days in. There’s a LOT here, it is not just a one issue ramble.
To win this game, Iran only needs to not play. They are totally and completely winning now.
There are now reports that China is arriving to give Iran military support. Considering how China treats Muslims, Iran had better tread lightly on this. China was looking good for a while a few years ago, but now obviously is some sort of sleazy monster. I find it interesting that monsters are happy with themselves as monsters as long as the secrets stay locked behind barbed wire.

One important thing to touch with all of this is the threats Iran is spewing now. Can they live up to them? Surprisingly, I’d say yes, absolutely. If Iran goes nuts and actually uses what they have it won’t be a case where a few things land in Israel and “all is destroyed”, it will instead be a case where a few hundred thousand pounds of high explosives land in Israel, and actually levels the place for real, with millions dead.

Here is the Iranian missile equation:

First of all, to be clear, Iran does not have a few beleaguered scuds. Iran has improved and upgraded almost all their ballistic missiles to hit within a 50 foot circle at ranges that make it possible for even the little ones to reach Israel. So they have a real deterrent.

Iran has (possibly more than) 250, 000 missiles capable of reaching Israel with at least a thousand pound payload, and some with up to a 4, 000 pound payload. Their “little ones” still carry 1000 pounds of explosives. That’s like an American cruise missile an they have them in huge quantities. This data has been expunged recently, I cannot search it out anymore but I remember from 2012 they had over 100, 000 and were working as fast as possible to build their arsenal to an enormous scale. Any way you cut it, it is well known that Israel does not have enough of a missile shield to stop that or anywhere near as many missiles in their entire inventory. So here’s the worst case math:

There’s probably 250 kilotons of possible delivery by Iran, and that’s yield in TNT. There’s lots of explosives worse than TNT, and they would obviously be used. It’s not irrational to say Iran could possibly deliver a megaton of yield to Israel. Here’s the kicker though:

If that yield is delivered in small pieces it will be far more destructive than one big blast. Actual destruction capacity would probably rival 10 megatons worth of nukes, because every last one of those missiles can destroy or seriously damage or kill out to at least five acres of total area. How big is Israel? One thing is certain: Iran is not bluffing when they say they can flatten Haifa and Tel Aviv, aside from the lack of fallout it might as well be a nuclear war. This will not be a case where a few destitute scuds fail somewhere over Saudi Arabia.

To top it off, if Iran decides to strike the Knesset, Dimona, or any other prime target, they are going to hit it. Their missiles are accurate to within 50 feet. Iran could even wipe out Israel’s submarines if they knew where they were.

So there’s a real deterrent there, and it is one Iran does not want to use because it is, like America against Russia, mutually assured destruction. They’d really nail Israel but they’d die in the aftermath.

So what is the situation like now in Iraq? Not good for America. Iraq voted to kick the United States forces out and the response was: “After you pay for that air force base we put in”. That’s the wrong attitude, Iraq’s response should be: We’ll be peaceful after the millions of people you killed on our turf after we did nothing to deserve it and you waged a war of lies are brought back to life, and all our broken families are put back together”.

American forces can cry all they want about “thousands of soldiers dead” but they do so from the perspective of being heavily armed paid gangsters that walked into a stadium and shot it up and then cried because a few security guards managed to kill a few soldiers. It does not matter if Iraqis targeted and killed a few thousand Americans when the Americans were there blowing away Iraqis by the hundreds of thousands repeatedly.

FACT: Saying Iraqis were bad for killing American troops is equal to saying any American who fires on the U.N. or Chinese when they invade is a terrorist. And Americans WILL BE CALLED TERRORISTS WHEN THAT TIME COMES. Just wait. The tables will be turned. The “terrorists” are whoever the global deep state wants killed.
So we now have a situation in Iraq where Iraq wants Iran there, not the U.S., and has voted to kick the U.S. out (which they were authorized to do) and the U.S. reneged and said no. And more – the U.S. said “sit down and shut up and take our beatings, or we’ll wipe you out”.

The situation could not possibly be worse. And here’s a nice little tidbit:

As it turns out, Soleimani worked with American forces as an ally when he was useful to U.S. interests and after Obama created ISIS he became the enemy. See the following which (surprisingly) I found at Wikipedia (they’ll expunge this post haste now that it is not politically expedient for the destruction of Iran)
The 2001 uprising in Herat was a coordinated insurrection and uprising in the Afghan city of Herat as part of the United States war in Afghanistan. The city was captured on November 12 by Northern Alliance forces as well as Special Forces of the United States, the United Kingdom and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The U.S. Special Operations teams consisted of U.S. Army Rangers and Delta Force under the command of CENTCOM General Tommy Franks. Iranian forces consisted of agents of the Quds Force under the command of Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, commander of the IRGC, and Major General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force. The Northern Alliance faction consisted of over 5, 000 militiamen under the command of Ismail Khan, a commander in the previous Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan and former governor of Herat before the Taliban came into power in 1995.

UK Special Forces for reasons of national security remained anonymous and did not reveal their formal command structure

Ok, so when useful, Soleimani was an ally. If killing him the way he was killed after he did not serve the immediate agenda is the status quo for the U.S., then the entire world needs to take note of how the neocon mind works. Killing Soleimani, especially the way this happened, was VERY BAD for America’s future when cooperation of allies might be needed.

Kenya: It appears there are spillover attacks in countries other than Iran, with a major attack on U.S. assets in Kenya. That is the consequence of the type of strike that was done by the U.S., it triggered enough widespread outrage for people who would have never considered becoming involved to become involved.

Perspective: Why did Trump allow this killing to happen? Probably for politics.

The attack on the Iranian general was likely a prerequisite from the deep state to allow Trump to finally at least clean out his cabinet, right after Soleimanei was killed they allowed Trump to fire all the Obama holdovers. That was probably not coincidence, there is a lot more to this story than we are being told.

Immediately after Iran said they would not attack the U.S., the U.S. embassy in Baghdad received rocket blasts. Obviously that’s Israel false flagging things, now is false flag prime time because Iran really is justified in attacking and that will make any “attack by Iran” believable.

It is my opinion that the red flag Iran hoisted is B.S., they are way too smart to actually follow through with that.

The Iraqi government has officially stated that if the U.S. forces do not leave, they will be considered to be an occupying force (an official target of aggression). That is actually true. If the U.S. does any military actions in Iraq now, it will be very bad for America’s image, and it will add to the already bad damage done.

Trump saying he was going to wipe out Iranian culture and historical sites was very poor, is he even in the white house? Did he get drugged or what?
    Possible (VERY BAD) rumor:
There is a rumor going around that the U.S. invited Soleimanei to peace talks in Iraq, and that the U.S. shagged him AFTER he flew into Iraq, fully identified and not under cover at all. He was traveling in peace time mode to get to peace talks and according to rumor (not confirmed) the U.S. knew this and did a kill that would have been possible for even a Chicago street gang to do. If this rumor is true, it speaks volumes. I’ll go into this a little:

IF he really was invited to peace talks only to be killed once traveling with no cover at all it means:

The U.S. cannot be trusted, and the hit, if ordered by Trump, just might be the impeachable offense the Dems are looking for. If it happened according to rumor, it was a grave violation of international law that will tarnish America’s image for decades. IF the rumor is true, it will mean that no one from any state that is a declared enemy of the United States will ever be safe to fly anywhere for “peace talks” and that’s one hell of a precedent to set that makes America look like absolute crap. If the rumor is true, Trump drove the tractor into the manure pit.

If the rumor is true, you can forget any more Trump chats with little Kim.

If the rumor is true, it will mean that Iran really is justified in war. But their best move is not to play, this hit was such a disaster for America’s image that Iran had their general cached out for 100X value in sympathy and support from the rest of the world. My opinion was that this was a huge mistake, even if the rumor about him going to peace talks is not true. This is Trump’s first real blunder, and it could be a catastrophic blunder. Time will tell.

    More perspective:
Iranian caller on TV: “America has no hero that we can target… It’s a huge country but no real heroes… Who are we going to assassinate there? Spiderman? SpongeBob?!”

Emotional appeal from a former US Hostage in Iran on news Trump may bomb 52 cultural sites in Iran for the 1979 hostage crisis:

“Mr. President, if you are listening, please don’t bother yourself on my account. Because I want nothing to do with it.”

Iran President Rouhani: Iran will inevitably defend the sovereignty of Iraq as it did in the past. It is imperative to stand firmly for the sovereignty and security of the Iraqi people

Iranian military official Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan: “We will not enter into an all-out war with America under any circumstances and we will respond appropriately to the U.S. strike. Iran’s response will be based on wisdom and reason and will be deterrent and influential.” My comment: I would not be surprised if Iraq merged with Iran, the stage is set for it.

I’ll keep an eye on things and post updates to this as needed. The bottom line:

It might be possible to impeach Trump if Trump gave the order to kill Soleimani, especially if he was killed on the way to the (unconfirmed rumor) peace talks.

Trump saying he’d destroy historic and heritage sites, along with culture, was such a bad move I can’t believe he did it. Is he actually the one tweeting?

Iran came out on top. To win, all they need to do is sit down and shut up. And that victory will stick for decades. Even if they don’t take this laying down, they still won. It’s a win win win win win for Iran, who on earth would have done something as stupid as taking Soleimani out, especially this way? This is likely Trump’s first legitimate screw up.

Desperate Zionist move to start WWIII backfires drastically
By Benjamin Fulford Weekly Reports 8 Comments

The U.S. murder of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani was either a “brilliant chess move” or a very stupid mistake, but either way, it has severely harmed the Zionists.

“The martyrdom of Soleimani may have been a brilliant chess move by U.S. President Donald Trump to unleash global anti-Semitism and terminate Israel, Saudi Arabia, Zionism, Exxon, and the deep state using Iran, Russia, China, Turkey, the EU, and its allies,” was how one Pentagon source summed up the situation.

However, British Intelligence got a very different story from their U.S. counterparts, who told them Soleimani was killed because “he was going to set off nuclear weapons in an attempt to start WWIII and bring on the Mahdi or Messiah.” The British don’t believe this excuse and note that “It was highly unusual the Pentagon did not forewarn Great Britain,” according to MI6 sources.

Regardless, despite the incredible Zionist beating of war drums, the Pentagon, Russian, and Chinese sources agree that this incident will not be allowed to escalate into WWIII.

“As Einstein said, ‘I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.’ We need to make sure the Iran situation does not threaten modern civilization,” was how an Asian Secret Society source described China’s view of this engineered crisis.

“…Eliminating officials of another UN member state…blatantly violates the principles of international law and should be condemned,” was Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s response to the incident. The world community will support Iranian war crime charges against Trump and he will eventually end up in jail for this crime, Russian FSB sources promise.

Veteran’s Today is reporting that the U.S. government committed a war crime by officially inviting Soleimani, under the promise of diplomatic immunity and the lifting of sanctions on Iran, only to ambush and kill him.

Pentagon sources say that because Trump was “tricked into ordering the hit [on Soleimani] with false Israeli Intelligence,” he now has cause and may fire …

    1. OK…From that VT report……

No magic intercepts were needed, we now learn from Iraq, to arrange for the assassination of Soleimani. We now learn that the ambush was staged through diplomatic channels, drawing Soleimani to Iraq in order to receive an offer of reduced sanctions from President Trump.

General Qassem Soleimani landed in Iraq to meet with PM Adel Mahdi, who was to be given a message for Iran by President Trump. He was murdered instead, the diplomatic note from Secretary of State Michael Pompeo to the Iranian envoy, Soleimani, was, in fact, an invitation to an ambush.

Soleimani flew from Damascus and was killed as he left the diplomatic check-in at the Baghdad International Airport.

Iraq had been acting as intermediary between Tehran and Washington with General Soleimani acting as diplomatic representative of Iran.

Soleimani had been asked by the Iraqi government to organize and train the forces that defeated ISIS, a process that was continuing as it had been continuing in Syria in partnership with Russia and Turkey, as part of the Astana Coalition.

ME: If that does not sound like a Zionist inspired dirty strategy, nothing does.

Shame on Trump for allowing himself to succumb to and be a part of such an underhanded immoral strategy.

  5. An interesting post from Jim Stone….

Iran does not have “sleeper cells” in the U.S.
And remember, the Israeli embassy in New York has at least one nuke
An “Iranian sleeper cell” ruse is making the rounds now. If people buy into it, it gives Israel options for their own Mossad sleeper cells, complete with nuclear weapons stored in Israeli embassies.

The Israeli embassy in New York exhibited a stunning spike in radiation during a 2006 – 7 scan of the city for radioactive hot spots and was by far the most radioactive location in New York. Obviously there was no further investigation into this so-called “anomaly”. The Israeli embassy there came up #1 by an enormous margin, being remarkably hotter than anywhere else in the city and there’s only one way that could happen. They don’t shield their bombs well, obviously.

FACT: No Iranian has to bother with smuggling a nuke into the United States for an “Iranian” terror attack, Israel has that covered for Iran already. I just figured I’d post this well worn topic in light of what is going on now, Israel already has nukes in the U.S. and it is how the nuclear blackmail threat is maintained.

  6. I continue to state Trump has gone mad and/or has lost all sense of right and wrong.
We illegally invaded Iraq and built military bases at the cost of billions. We treat Iraq like it’s a candy store and we have unlimited credit. Iraq justifiably asks us to vacate THEIR country after he committed an act against all recognized international law on Iraqi sovereign land and this is Trump’s response:

Just hours after Iraq voted to expel US troops stationed in Iraq, Trump made it clear that he has no interest in vacating the nation that has been a stalwart US military outpost in the middle east for nearly two decades ever since it was invaded by, well, the US in search of fabricated weapons of mass destruction, and speaking to reporters on Air Force One said “we’re not leaving” unless Iraq “pays us back” for a US air base built in Iraq.

“We have a very extraordinarily expensive air base that’s there. It cost billions of dollars to build. Long before my time. We’re not leaving unless they pay us back for it.” Trump told the AF1 reporter pool.

That, however, wasn’t enough, and Trump also made it clear that that in addition to billions in reimbursements, unless the US left on a “very friendly basis”, the US would hit Iraq with “very big” sanctions like “they’ve never seen before ever.”

“If they do ask us to leave, if we don’t do it in a very friendly basis. We will charge them sanctions like they’ve never seen before ever. It’ll make Iranian sanctions look somewhat tame.”

And just to make it abundantly clear, Trump also added that “if there’s any hostility, that they do anything we think is inappropriate, we are going to put sanctions on Iraq, very big sanctions on Iraq.”

I am sorry, but this is not the logic of a rational man….it’s the ‘logic’ of a self-appointed king who hubris has taken on monumental proportions.

How much worse can sanctions be than 500,000 dead Iraqi children?
What kind of monsters have we become?

      2. Will, we live in some very sad and dangerous times. I was deployed to Iraq about 13 years ago and it made me sick to my stomach how we Americans rape that beautiful country all in the name of installing our version of Zionism..Oops I meant democracy.
The U.S. Embassy there is the most expensive one ever built and it’s just another spook base for operating mercenaries thru the Gulf. Black Water started it all. The new Olympus has Fallen movie was just predictive programming for the future of the industrial military cabal.

      1. Actually, I believe he has virtually destroyed his prospects for reelection at a single blow. He was supposed to get us out of these wars in the Middle East, not start new ones. And now the Democrats have a bona fide reason to impeach him, which even I would support. I can no longer stand with this gullible sap who should have known better. He allowed himself to be played by Bibi. I would rather have a real American president than an Israeli stooge. I can no longer endorse him. Bernie, ironically, may be our best bet, especially were he to run with Tulsi, where their foreign policies are virtually indistinguishable and she strengthens him in ways no other running mate could. A stunning 2020 reversal.

      2. Hard to disagree….but I still think the momentum is there and since there has been no ballot reform…..any ‘fix’ could work as well for him as it did for the Dems in 2018, especially since he has the tribe working behind the scenes.
Regardless, I would now be in favor of a REAL impeachment and that would make all else moot.
Then again, that leaves us with the prospects of Pence or even the bitch from the west, Pelosi…GAWD FORBID!
Seems this is one of the biggest blunders ever by a US president.
He had it made and he blew it big time.

      3. Latest reports are that Trump’s poll numbers are UP. I am dismayed but the American people are extremely ignorant of history, even relatively recent history. This is more than embarrassing. I can no longer support him.

  7. International criminals in the U.S. and England are responsible for all problems in Iran today. Adolph Trump is a fool ignorant of history.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_Iranian_coup_d%27%C3%A9tat
    Quote:
“The 1953 Iranian coup d’état, known in Iran as the 28 Mordad coup d’état (Persian: کودتای ۲۸ مرداد‎), was the overthrow of the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh in favour of strengthening the monarchical rule of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi on 19 August 1953,[5] orchestrated by the United States (under the name TPAJAX Project[6] or “Operation Ajax”) and the United Kingdom (under the name “Operation Boot”).[7][8][9][10] It was the first covert action of the United States to overthrow a foreign government during peacetime.[11]
Mosaddegh had sought to audit the documents of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC), a British corporation (now part of BP) and to limit the company’s control over Iranian oil reserves.[12] Upon the refusal of the AIOC to co-operate with the Iranian government, the parliament (Majlis) voted to nationalize Iran’s oil industry and to expel foreign corporate representatives from the country.[13][14][15] After this vote, Britain instigated a worldwide boycott of Iranian oil to pressure Iran economically.[16] Initially, Britain mobilized its military to seize control of the British-built Abadan oil refinery, then the world’s largest, but Prime Minister Clement Attlee opted instead to tighten the economic boycott[17] while using Iranian agents to undermine Mosaddegh’s government.[18]:3 Judging Mosaddegh to be unreliable and fearing a Communist takeover in Iran, UK prime minister Winston Churchill and the Eisenhower administration decided to overthrow Iran’s government, though the predecessor Truman administration had opposed a coup, fearing the precedent that Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) involvement would set.[18]:3 British intelligence officials’ conclusions and the UK government’s solicitations were instrumental in initiating and planning the coup, despite the fact that the U.S. government in 1952 had been considering unilateral action (without UK support) to assist the Mosaddegh government.[19][20][21]
Following the coup in 1953, a government under General Fazlollah Zahedi was formed which allowed Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran (Persian for an Iranian king),[22] to rule more firmly as monarch. He relied heavily on United States support to hold on to power.[13][14][15][23] According to the CIA’s declassified documents and records, some of the most feared mobsters in Tehran were hired by the CIA to stage pro-Shah riots on 19 August.[24] Other CIA-paid men were brought into Tehran in buses and trucks, and took over the streets of the city.[25] Between 200[3] and 300[4] people were killed because of the conflict. Mosaddegh was arrested, tried and convicted of treason by the Shah’s military court. On 21 December 1953, he was sentenced to three years in jail, then placed under house arrest for the remainder of his life.[26][27][28] Other Mosaddegh supporters were imprisoned, and several received the death penalty.[15] After the coup, the Shah continued his rule as monarch for the next 26 years[14][15] until he was overthrown in the Iranian Revolution in 1979.[14][15][18]
In August 2013, sixty years afterward, the U.S. government formally acknowledged the U.S. role in the coup by releasing a bulk of previously classified government documents that show it was in charge of both the planning and the execution of the coup, including the bribing of Iranian politicians, security and army high-ranking officials, as well as pro-coup propaganda.[29][30][31] The CIA is quoted acknowledging the coup was carried out “under CIA direction” and “as an act of U.S. foreign policy, conceived and approved at the highest levels of government”.[32]”
