DeSantis Slams ‘Weaponized Federal Agencies’ For Raid On Trump’s Mar-A-Lago

Update (2053ET): Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) came out with a blistering response to the Monday FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, reportedly in connection with materials Trump brought with him after leaving office.

“The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves,” said DeSantis. “Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic.”

Trump supporters have begun gathering outside Mar-a-Lago.

Moments ago, Donald Trump – who is still banned by Twitter – published a statement on Truth Social in which he said that his Florida home, Mar A Lago is “currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents“, an assault which according to Trump “could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries.” He is probably right. He also claims the Fed’s presence was unannounced and the reason was politically motivated.

His full statement posted on his Truth Social account is below:

Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the

United States of America

These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents. Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate. It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections. Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe! What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.

The political persecution of President Donald J. Trump has been going on for years, with the now fully debunked Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and so much more, it just never ends. It is political targeting at the highest level!

Hillary Clinton was allowed to delete and acid wash 33,000 E-mails AFTER they were subpoenaed by Congress. Absolutely nothing has happened to hold her accountable. She even took antique furniture, and other items from the White House.

I stood up to America’s bureaucratic corruption, I restored power to the people, and truly delivered for our Country, like we have never seen before. The establishment hated it. Now, as they watch my endorsed candidates win big victories, and see my dominance in all polls, they are trying to stop me, and the Republican Party, once more. The lawlessness, political persecution, and Witch Hunt must be exposed and stopped.

I will continue to fight for the Great American People!

Local reporters confirmed the raid, saying the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago. “They just left,” although it isn’t clear what the search was about.

. . .

According to the New York Times:

The search, according to two people familiar with the investigation, appeared to be focused on material that Mr. Trump had brought with him to Mar-a-Lago, his private club and residence, after he left the White House. Those boxes contained many pages of classified documents, according to a person familiar with their contents.

Mr. Trump delayed returning 15 boxes of material requested by officials with the National Archives for many months, only doing so when there became a threat of action being taken to retrieve them.

As Techno Fog notes, the politics of the search can’t be ignored. If the New York Times is to be believed, Trump’s purported crime – the delay of returning materials – could have been resolved in another manner not involving raiding his home and breaking open a personal safe. No doubt the search is an escalation by a desperate Regime confronted by their own failures at home and abroad.

This doesn’t necessarily mean there wasn’t another reason for the search. Could it have to do with the DOJ’s ongoing January 6 probe (although, given the politicization of Biden’s DOJ, that is no guarantee)? Maybe not, but it might be too soon to tell. Last week there was reporting that a federal grand jury investigating January 6 had issued subpoenas to the Trump White House Counsel, Pat Cipollone, and his top deputy, Patrick Philbin.

According to the author, it is possible that the roadmap for the DOJ comes from the January 6 Committee, “which has poured out the thin gruel of purported criminal charges against Trump, alleging he and others, including attorney John Eastman, could be charged with”:

  1. Obstruction of an Official Proceeding (18 USC 1512(c)(2)); and
  2. Conspiracy to Defraud the United States (18 USC 371).

Each of these counts, as well as the DOJ’s pursuit of Trump and his attorneys and advisors, amounts to the criminalization of politics, or as Technofog puts it, “arguments of law that might fail in the courts are now prosecutable offenses. Attempts to delay a vote count based on novel, and not corrupt, interpretations of the law can put you in prison. Issues surrounding the counting of state results or whether the Vice President can refuse to count electoral votes is a matter to be decided through the civil or political process, not through charges brought by vindictive opponents.”

  1. Oh, so the raid was about things ”nuclear” or whatever. We all know how sentimental Trump can be. He probably remembers his days as President and was always accompanied by an aide carrying that huge satchel called the nuclear football. Memories are strange things, they can attach to us and just won’t let go… I can understand his dilemma.

  2. Attorney General Merrick Garland said an inside ”witness” saw classified documents inside Trump’s home and he signed off on the Raid. Who was this witness and how qualified are they concerning classified papers? Was it Melania’s chamber maid whom might have been folding some of her panties? Maybe Trump was hiding some papers in his sock drawer? This mystery needs to be unraveled. You know that Keystone cops needed to know just where to look for these papers….they just can’t go searching through the toilet paper storage closet, hoping they might come across some of Trump’s crimes.
It must be the chamber maid….I never trust them.

  3. One of the more interesting comments from ZH on the Mar-A-Lago seizure:

This is a hit Job by the Biden crime syndicate. Trump is a threat to them if he runs or not, and they know it. Trump has more power now than he did in office. If Trump can’t or doesn’t run, and his endorsement goes to say DeSantis…BOOM! instant votes. The fbi has made Trump a maryter of sorts with this absolute travesty, and big THEY will pay dearly at the polls. Hell even some democrats are balking on this…Why? Because it could happen to them. I do think this was an unconstitutional act I think that the civil servants who executed this raid should have said NO! we will not do this thing as it is a violation of a citizens rights, not to mention a former president. Like him or not he should have been protected by the same rights as you and me. We the people do have the right to disobey unlawful orders. It is a soldiers duty to disobey unlawful orders. If the turds at the fbi, who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, the highest law in this land, the one by which all other laws are written, actually had any honor this raid would not have happened. Instead they did the bidding of their masters like all trained attack dogs do.***** This should be a warning to all. Law enforcement just showed us where their allegiance lies…..With the ones who sign their f@#king paycheck!***** No government official….of any capacity…down to the dogcatcher can ever be trusted with anything…much less your freedom and liberty. This is no longer about a political figure. This is about the freedom of every legal citizen in this country, and whether or not you really believe in freedom. Look around you…do you feel free? We are the most imprisoned nation on this f@#king planet. Putting people in prison is a billion dollar industry here. Have you ever listened to the news? Every time something of note happens the last sentence is “no charges have been filed yet.” A motherf@#king meteor could fall an kill someone and they would want to arrest someone. Land of the free? Home of the brave? Keep telling yourselves that…right up until they slam the cell door on you. This deal that happened to Trump should scare the s#!t out of us all. Better yet it should motivate us to be ready at a moments notice to defend ourselves and our neighbors from these evil sons of b!+@hes.

  4. The File photo is the judge who signed off on the search warrant Bruce E. Reinhart, United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Florida. Before assuming his office as a federal judge, Reinhart was an attorney who represented associates of Jeffrey Epstein implicated in his human trafficking conspiracy. Well qualified to enact dirty warrants.

  6. An addition to my post of 7 AM today.

    https://conservativebrief.com/sealed-65417/

Attorneys for former President Donald Trump have spoken about the raid on his Mar-a-Lago home and they have some details.

One of his attorneys, Christina Bobb, said that when she arrived on the scene she was given a warrant but it was partially sealed.

“When I arrived and kind of announced myself as the legal representation for President Trump. I asked to see a copy of the warrant,” she said.

“Initially they refused and said, ‘You know, we don’t have to show it to you.’ And there was a little bit of an exchange about whether it was appropriate to withhold the warrant when you’re searching the residence of the former president, who’s likely to be the Republican nominee in the next election, though they conceded and let me see it, they did not give me a copy of it right away, but they did let me see it,” she said.

“It was very, I would say, thin. And as you can tell from public records, the affidavit, the supporting documentation of what the probable cause was to obtain the warrant has been sealed,” she said.

“So we’re not allowed to see that. We have to go to court to request the judge to release that which, you know, may or may not happen. So we don’t know what the probable cause is, why they were allowed to search, but they did,” the attorney said.

“They also said that they were looking for classified documents, evidence of a crime as far as classified documents go,” she said.

“So they were looking for both classified information that they think should not have been removed from the White House as well as presidential records,” she said but said that the president could declassify documents as he wants to.

“It doesn’t really make any sense. And the same thing with any potential classified information, which I don’t believe there was any down there. We had done a search of it before and didn’t find anything noteworthy yet. I’m sure that they’re claiming that there was something terribly egregious, that a grave matter of national security. But we’ll find out,” she said.

    https://twitter.com/DavidEdwards/status/155700308005034803

Another of the former president’s attorneys, Lindsey Halligan, described what she witnessed at the search, CBS News reported.

Over the next eight hours, Halligan said 30-40 FBI personnel conducted the search. There were a handful dressed in suits, but most wore t-shirts, cargo pants, masks, and gloves. Halligan estimates 10-15 FBI vehicles went in and out of the property, including a Ryder truck.

Halligan says she and Bobb were barred from going inside the complex, forced to remain outside, between the ballroom and residence, on the grounds of Mar-a-Lago.

According to Halligan, the FBI divided up the search into three areas: a bedroom, a storage area, and an office.

She said she spoke with Trump who expressed shock about the FBI search. He said he thought he’d complied with investigators’ requests. He told Halligan that the Justice Department has an open line to his attorneys and said that he’s instructed them to turn over responsive documents if they have them. She said that the former president raised concerns about abuse of power by the Biden administration.

“Halligan said the search warrant was sealed, and because she had not been party to this aspect of Trump’s legal portfolio until Monday, did not know what kinds of documents the FBI might be looking for nor what kinds of documents the former president keeps with him at Mar-a-Lago,” CBS said.

She said that the search “was an appalling display of abuse and power — complete overkill.” And said that “if they needed documents, they could have asked. There’s never been an issue with compliance.”

  7. As much as I try to avoid some of Stone’s fear mongering posts, the following is not beyond feasibility considering the rogue regime now ruling this country and planet:

    http://www.voterig.com/.z6.html

Trump is worried the FBI planted “evidence”

They did a lot more than raid a safe. They were at Mar a lago for NINE HOURS and demanded no witnesses and no security cameras. If they went in with good intentions, why would they demand all security cameras be turned off? Why would they demand no witnesses? My answer: So they could plant “evidence” and possibly poison surfaces or whatever else you’d expect from a Bolshevik agency, certainly there are bugs that you cannot scan planted everywhere.

Me….I just don’t understand how they have any authority over Trump’s security system, but hey, it’s the Gestapo and I guess law and privacy is of zero concern.

  8. Could it be more blatant? Hard to find much background on the judge who signed the warrant to rape Mar-A-Lago, but that nose tells me something. THE FACT HE DEFENDED EPSTEIN tells me all I need to know. We have reached a level of criminality in the US we have never experienced. It’s time for a Peoples Army to make CITIZENS ARRESTS!!

  9. Its now been revealed that the FBI also snooped through Milani’s underwear drawers and closets inside her bedroom at Mar-a-Lago. What were they sniffing for ? Did they think that her husband had hidden some SECRET documents under her panties?

  10. As I have been saying, to the annoyance of some here, the US has now descended to the degraded level of a banana republic with this politically inspired surprise raid on a former President’s home. The taking of 15 boxes from the property is unconscionable. The entire loot must be remanded to a Federal Judge to be scrutinized if any of the material is relevant to the Search Warrant. The FBI cannot be trusted to not tamper with the material. All uninvolved material must be returned to Mr. Trump immediately.
An official apology would be in order.

    moderated
  11. If these cardboard boxes are so important, why is a team of goons allowed to handle them. Where’s the chain of custody? Where is the inventory of every single sheet of paper? How do we know the material being processed properly and that evidence isn’t either planted or valuable personal papers of the president being stolen or illegally spied upon by the election stealing highly corrupt Democrats, who have have a long history of making up false claims.

    moderated
    1. Every single sheet of paper should have been photographed before anything was manhandled and taken from Trump’s property. Just hauling off whole boxes of possibly many thousands of miscellaneous papers is abhorrent. This is what gangsters do to their enemies. Yes, the Democrat agencies are acting like gangsters…..there is no other way to say it.
What we have just seen in this ”raid” is the paper-rape of a former President by his possible opponent. Disgusting in the extreme.

The FBI And DOJ Criminalizing Opposition To The Regime Is How The Republic Ends

    https://thefederalist.com/2022/08/08/criminalizing-opposition-to-the-regime-is-how-the-republic-ends/
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
On Thursday, Barack Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder decided it was the time to bring the subtext of the Jan. 6 show trials and related domestic security state activities into the open.

“My guess is that by the end of this process, you’re going to see indictments involving high-level people in the White House, you’re going to see indictments against people outside the White House who were advising them with regard to the attempt to steal the election, and I think ultimately you’re probably going to see the president, former president of the United States indicted as well,” Holder told SiriusXM host Joe Madison.

Holder noted that the U.S. Department of Justice he formerly headed is working with the illegally constituted Jan. 6 Commission towards this goal. We know these entities are also working with the FBI, whose head bit his thumb at congressional oversight repeatedly in a public hearing last week.
