William de Berg, Trump, Kabuki Theater, and the Defeat of Israel

William de Berg

Now that the dust has cleared after the end of the 12-day Israel-Iran War, certain truths have become evident.   For one, Israel suffered a humiliating defeat.  Even before it allegedly ran out of air-defense missiles [1], Israel’s very rusty and obsolete “Iron Dome” couldn’t deflect Iran’s large arsenal of hypersonic missiles, which damaged or destroyed Israel’s military headquarters, its Mossad headquarters, its largest oil refinery and port (in Haifa), its leading scientific institute, and other key infrastructure [2].  Isarel sustained up to $20 billion in damage, with over 40,000 compensation claims to date [3] Had it been a prize fight, a couple of the early rounds would have gone to Israel after its penetration of Iranian intelligence and its sneak attack, whereas most of the later rounds were arguably won by Iran, some decisively.

Meanwhile, the United States entered the conflict brashly and threatened Iran with annihilation before leaving quietly in the night after what can only be described as Kabuki Theater.  The U.S. gave Iran advanced warning of what it was going to bomb, allowing it to move all of its uranium and much of its nuclear infrastructure away from its three underground nuclear sites—which may or may not have been severely damaged by the 14 “Massive Ordnance Penetrators” and cruise missiles dropped on them.   Certainly, there is no evidence of radioactivity being released or anyone being killed on the ground [4].  Then Iran retaliated after telling Qatar and the United States that it would drop a dozen or so missiles on the Al-Udeid Air Based in Qatar, the largest American base in the region and the site of Forward CentCom.  Again, minimal damage and no casualties ensued from the largely evacuated base [5].

The much-maligned and massively underestimated Donald Trump received an uptick in approval at home and even adulation from previously distrustful NATO leaders [6].   Israel basically sued for peace, and that was the end of the story.  So, what really went on—underneath the masks?

First, Donald Trump proved his genius once again.   Here is a man who was mocked when he rode down the escalator of Trump Tower n 2015 to announce his campaign for president, dismissed as he entered the GOP primaries later that year (in which he crushed the most powerful field of candidates ever to run for president, from senators and governors to doctors and lawyers and even a national debate champion), and given no chance to defeat the impregnable Hillary Clinton (who after her shocking defeat  refused to concede the election in person and instead supposedly raged violently at the outcome in her campaign headquarters) [7].   After his victory in 2016, Democratic leader Senator Schumer of New York warned Trump to watch out if tried to take on the intelligence agencies, since they could destroy him “six ways from Sunday” [8].  In actuality Trump was beset with far more than six threats, including special prosecutors, Russian hoaxes, electronic eavesdropping,  efforts to remove him via the 25th amendment, double impeachments, sabotage by staff,  massive election fraud in 2020, incessant attacks from almost the entire mainstream media, early-morning FBI raids, a slew of politically motivated (and mostly farcical) lawfare charges, and multiple assassination attempts, even before  the infamous Butler, PA incident last July.   Trump slayed all of his attackers by deftly using their arrows against them (in the case of the media), standing his ground while taking blows, and keeping his messages flowing to his faithful base.  Fresh off his starring role in the highly-rated TV shows The Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice, Trump entertained massive crowds at campaign rallies night after night, and his constant bluster, exaggeration, bloviation, and even double-talk was a brilliant strategy to befuddle, destabilize, and lull his powerful opponents.   Through his chutzpah, defiance, flair and his keen read of the pulse of the average American mind, he steadily unraveled the control of the globalist elites over the American political system.

But on the world stage, Trump took a different tack.   He secretly aligned with Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping to help take down the Western banker-led “rules-based” New World order.    Despite their different personalities, modi operandis, and geopolitical world views, all three leaders are at their heart economic nationalists, intent in restoring national pride and snatching sovereignty away from the Western banking cabal.  Trump’s secret (or maybe not-so-secret) relationship with Putin was the key to ending the conflict in Ukraine.   Despite months of verbal obfuscations and stalling, Trump basically conceded Ukraine following his hour-long conversation in early June with Putin [9]; after that, he has been almost silent on Ukraine and his attention turned to the Middle East.   And this is when the Kubuki performance really unfolded.   Did Trump trade silence on Ukraine for Putin’s help in arranging the deal with Iran, where the United States would pretend to support Israel during its war and take out Iran’s nuclear facilities and Iran would pretend to retaliate against the United States?  Putin and Xi, being patrons and partners with Iran economically and militarily, could have easily convinced Iran of the beauty of this scheme, allowing Trump to execute what appeared to be a strong military action.  Trump, of course, denies having accepted Putin’s offer of help on Iran [10], but in his world of decoys and deception who accepts that?

And then there’s Israel.   Why would Israel engage in a war with Iran after clearly being shown last fall that it could not defend against Iranian hypersonic missiles?   True, Netanyahu needs continuous military conflict to help prop up his eroding support among Israelis, but he needs easy victories, not defeats.  Did Trump lead Israel into a trap, encouraging it to engage in the sneak attack on Iran by promising them air-defense systems and an attack on Iran?   Trump has gone above and beyond over the years in his public support of Israel, clamping down on protests and protesters against Israel at home and repeatedly hosting Netanyahu at the White House, but privately and in other areas it may be a different matter [11].    Trump wants to forge a long-term peace in the Mideast, and he can only do that if Israel is weak and desperate.   Netanyahu can attack Trump, but only at his own risk since he heaped praise on the latter after his Iran strike and is need of Trump’s support as his own political crisis deepens.   Netanyahu has to be wondering now how long he will remain in office if Israelis cannot trust him again with their safety.   It’s one thing for Hamas fighters to take a quick excursion into southern Israel and for Hezbollah to shell rural areas of Northern Israel for months, displacing over 100,000 residents.  But it is another thing altogether when urban Israelis see their cities and key infrastructure being pummeled while the “Iron Dome” missiles flail about fruitlessly.

Meanwhile, the globalist bankers—who once had been salivating at the prospect of acquiring the enormous mineral riches of Ukraine, Iran, Iraq and even Russia—are in a state of panic.   Their high-water mark will turn out to have been the destruction of Libya and Syria and the last of NATO expansions—but these were never the big prizes.   From now on, the nations of Europe—aging, lacking resources, technologically receding, and full of migratory discord—will continue to fall further behind the nations of BRICS et al. on the world stage.

Finally, there’s Donald Trump.  Once again, despite the attacks and naysayers, he ends up on top.   Analysts may continue to call him ignorant, bullying, impulsive, and even mentally unstable, because they do not understand his political genius nor his art of deception.   Trump is vigorously defending the narrative that he obliterated Iran’s nuclear program, to protect the grand Iran deception, but even if has to back off eventually from that claim the fact remains that his and Putin’s and possibly Xi’s orchestration of the events leading up to and during the 12-day war have led to a ceasefire that will probably hold for a very long duration.   Israel is in no position to violate it given its vulnerability to Iran’s missiles, and Iran can now bask in its success as long as it doesn’t rock the boat—and spill the beans about the Kabuki extravaganza.  So, Trump can only be smiling on his way to his coveted Nobel Peace Prize while his political enemies at home continue to piss and moan and scratch their heads.
