When it comes to COVID-19, most Americans seem to be gravitating toward one of two extremes. Some are treating this pandemic like it is the end of the world, while many others are dismissing it as a “nothingburger”. But the truth is somewhere in between. Nobody can deny that lots of people are getting sick and lots of people are dying. In fact, the U.S. death toll has doubled in a little over a week and it has now shot past the 47,000 mark. And as this pandemic progresses, a lot more people are going to get sick and a lot more people are going to die, and this is going to be true whether the lockdowns continue or not. The lockdowns were never going to stop COVID-19, and anyone that believed that was just being delusional.
The only time a lockdown should be instituted is if a pandemic has gotten so bad in an area that hospitals are being absolutely overwhelmed, because if people can’t get treatment that is a factor that could potentially increase the overall death toll substantially.
In most of the United States that is not happening right now, and so in most of the nation the lockdowns should be immediately ended.
But won’t a lot more people start getting sick if that happens?
Of course, and this is something that the “nothingburger” crowd doesn’t understand. Lifting the lockdowns is going to cause the virus to cycle through our population at a much faster rate, and the numbers will get pretty ugly. But as long as the medical system can handle it, lockdowns are not necessary.
What “the end of the world” crowd does not understand is that when you are dealing with a virus that spreads as easily as this one, it is inevitable that most of the population will eventually become infected. You can “flatten the curve” and delay the inevitable with lockdowns, but that also prolongs the pandemic. In the end, roughly the same number of people will get sick and roughly the same number of people will die no matter how the pandemic is “managed”.
This week, the “nothingburger” crowd has made a really big deal out of the fact that a study conducted in L.A. county discovered that about 4 percent of all residents had already developed COVID-19 antibodies, and they were trying to use that study to prove that this pandemic is not much of a threat at all.
Actually, it shows just the opposite.
This pandemic is not going to be over until herd immunity is achieved, and according to Johns Hopkins that does not happen until 70 to 90 percent of a population has developed immunity…
When most of a population is immune to an infectious disease, this provides indirect protection—or herd immunity (also called herd protection)—to those who are not immune to the disease.
For example, if 80% of a population is immune to a virus, four out of every five people who encounter someone with the disease won’t get sick (and won’t spread the disease any further). In this way, the spread of infectious diseases is kept under control. Depending how contagious an infection is, usually 70% to 90% of a population needs immunity to achieve herd immunity.
So let’s do some really quick math.
Let’s assume that the study conducted in L.A. County is representative of the nation as a whole and that approximately 4 percent of all Americans have now developed antibodies.
And let’s also assume that herd immunity for COVID-19 will be achieved when 80 percent of the total population has developed antibodies.
If 47,000 Americans have died at the current 4 percent level of exposure, that means that we could potentially be looking at an overall death toll of 940,000 once we hit an 80 percent exposure level.
Does anyone in the “nothingburger” crowd want to try to claim that 940,000 dead Americans is not a big deal?
I keep hearing people say that this virus “is just like the flu”, and that is absolutely absurd. As Mike Adams of Natural News has pointed out, COVID-19 has killed more Americans in the last 17 days than the flu did in the last year…
In the last 17 days, the Wuhan coronavirus has killed more Americans (35,087) than the regular flu kills in an entire year (34,157 for the last year). It obliterates any last shred of the argument — still heard across the independent media — that the coronavirus is “no worse than the flu.”
The coronavirus remains the No. 1 cause of death in America on a day-to-day basis, clocking in at 2,804 deaths just today. Total deaths in the USA will exceed 46,000 tomorrow, confirming our earlier projection that estimated 46,000 to 93,000 deaths from coronavirus in the USA by the end of July. It’s not even the end of April, and we’re already beyond 45,000. (At the time we made the projection, it was dismissed as “crazy” by the very same people who still claim the coronavirus is “no worse than the flu.” Those are the people who can’t do math.)
And actually the number of Americans dying from the coronavirus is being seriously undercounted.
In New York City, if someone dies at home they are typically not tested to see if they have the coronavirus. So even though the number of city residents dying at home is now nearly ten times higher than normal, the vast majority of those cases are never showing up in the official numbers.
But the “end of the world” crowd seems to think that if we just keep everyone at home long enough that we can significantly reduce the final death toll from this pandemic, and that just isn’t accurate either.
Right now, the virus continues to spread even though most of the U.S. has now been locked down for weeks. In fact, there were nearly 30,000 more confirmed cases during the 24 hour period that just ended. Whether it does it relatively quickly or relatively slowly, this virus will continue to rip through our population until we eventually get to the point of herd immunity.
“Experts” such as Bill Gates are suggesting that the lockdowns are “buying us time” until our scientists can develop a “vaccine”, but the truth is that is really not much more than a pipe dream.
As I pointed out yesterday, there has never been a successful vaccine for any coronavirus in all of human history, and now that scientists have discovered approximately 30 different strains of the virus that will just make the task of trying to develop a vaccine even more complicated.
Sadly, the reality of the matter is that this virus is going to be with us for a very long time to come. Eventually herd immunity will hopefully be achieved, but until then a lot of people are going to get sick and a lot of people are going to die.
And fear of this virus is going to be with us for a long time to come as well, and that is going to paralyze our economy whether there are lockdowns or not.
The bottom line is that this virus is not going to be stopped, and the economic collapse that has now begun is not going to be stopped either.
But this isn’t the end of the world, and most of us will get through this. Of course even bigger challenges lie beyond the end of this pandemic, but that is a topic for another article.
As of this moment, COVID-19 has killed more than 184,000 people around the globe, and by the end of this pandemic the overall death toll is likely to be much, much higher than that.
There is no way that you can possibly call that a “nothingburger”, and sticking your head in the sand is not going to help anything. But on the other hand, trying to lock down the entire planet is not going to solve this crisis either. It will simply delay the inevitable, because this virus is just going to continue to spread no matter what actions our politicians take.

The guy inside was pulling an Agent Smith on the Stay at Home Order. That’s all it took for loud radio man to go ballistic, literally!
Arrested? Yes, now here’s the bizarre part. The most severe bond they could give him was not related to the five gun charges. The crime with the highest bond was violating the unconstitutional stay at home order. That was a grand. More expensive bond than reckless endangerment. Can you believe it? I can’t… that was until I saw a mother led away in handcuffs for taking her kids to a playground. The cops left the children to fend for themselves. We don’t need any government bail outs. We need to open for business. We can’t allow the power drunk politicians to change the way we do business.

The Matrix movie has come true. Average people walking down the street have become Agent Smiths before your very eyes. I parked my car to go fishing in the creek. Before I could get my rod out of the back, a cyclist was yelling from his bike ”you can’t park there” as he kept riding. I have parked there to fish about hundred times. What happened Jim? Police were called to an anti-social distancing disturbance at a small grocery store in Edwards, Colorado. Some drone zombies with slave muzzles hassled one of the awake about being too close without a slave muzzle deployed. He laid into them and didn’t back down. In the paper it said the guy coughed on food and licked the check out stand conveyor belt. I heard the awake guy has a different story they did not bother to tell. One where none of that happened. It’s typical of Vail Daily’s one sided reporting. People the World over read the on-line edition of our totally lame local paper. By now people in Australia and Japan have read the story and believe the Daily’s distortions, fabrications and published lies.
The front page of the Vail Daily today featured a picture of three bronze statues with masks deployed. The photo is supposed to be funny but it just pisses me off even more because waxing humorous is still a continuation of wall to wall virus coverage. I think that is a big part of why sports was forced to quit playing and they have tried to shut down the great outdoors.
They don’t want you escaping into a hockey game or going skiing in the Backcountry. Because they need us home were every program and every commercial reminds you “we are all in this together”, “during these uncertain times… blah blah blah”. Then they push the anti-social distancing. I can’t even drive to the store without seeing a highway sign that says “stay home, save a life”. The mind control beam works with most of the population – but not all. That’s why failure to anti-social distance is now a crime. And they try to shame you into just going along with the Bullshit.
In the Simulation known as “Lock Step” they specifically spelled out that masks will be required and that all severe measures taken during the Pandemic would not be rescinded but intensified after the danger has faded. They were super jazzed about that more than anything. That and having every country on Earth shove an iron boot up your ass in “Lock-step”
Don’t forget to snidely rebuke any shaming directed at you for not going along with the economic suicide pact, anti-social distancing or the inverted and turned on it’s ear – quarantine. Maybe pull out a large crucifix and hold it up like you are repelling vampires.

The food in the USA is a nightmare of added chemicals and GMO. Hundreds of these adulterated food products, that USA markets are loaded with, are not allowed to be imported into most European nations and also elsewhere.
The FDA’s idea is these chemicals give food a long shelf-life and retain their bright color.
Want healthy food….try a Moscow, Russia supermarket where these toxic chemicals are illegal.
We don’t have the choice of going to Moscow or Europe to get our food. Grow your own and get as close to organic as you can. “Organic”in this country does not mean a thing.
Last I checked, Round-up can be used on foods labeled organic as long as it’s 6 weeks prior to harvest. Best we can do is avoid processed foods as much as possible. Do not buy Walmart brands, as I have discovered they are above the non-GMO guideline….how and why, I do not know. For instance, if one buys regular Cheerios, it is visibly marked non-GMO…Walmart’s brand is not labeled one way or the other. One may buy organic veggies, but there is no guarantee they are organic….it’s easy to place non-organic in the organic bins …how would one know?
Avoid any sodas….most are really bad for your kidneys. One of the best things one can eat is fresh fruit…just wash it well. Most nuts are excellent, although peanuts and a few others may have mold….just heat them in a toaster oven before consuming.
I was a vegetarian for almost 40 years. i now eat meat. AND, have found absolutely no difference in my health. I drink coffee, but I blend one third caffeine and two thirds decaf. Having had a gourmet coffee shop in Charlottesville, I used to sell coffees that were up to 50 bucks a pound. I now buy those vacuum packed blends of espresso that are $1.48 for 10 ounces. Contrary to most beliefs, espresso has less caffeine than normally roasted coffee if brewed as you would regular coffee AND has a more robust flavor.
I do agree most food in this country is garbage…especially processed and packaged items.
I also recommend raw milk IF you can get it. Some of it will be labeled ” for animals only”…that is bullcrap. It’s what milk used to be before Louis Pasteur ruined it.
I saw the President’s Press Report today ….4/27, and he was not wearing his usual ChloraPrep on his face [its available at Amazon.com] as far as I could tell. I hope this signals a change for the better.

She thinks they are being destroyed because there is no demand for potatoes. I’m with you (and Vivian). “Fear-mongering” is the exact word that came to mind while I was reading that.
Dr. Scott Jensen, who is both a doctor and legislator in Minnesota, says he was instructed by his hospital to state the cause of death on a death certificate as COVID-19, because the hospital gets $13,000 from Medicare for each death reported as COVID-19. They are reporting these as deaths due to COVID0-19 even without testing for the virus (and of course the tests are unreliable, themselves, with high false positives). This means we can trust none of the numbers about death or infection.
The empty hospitals say it all. So does the crashing of the economy. Very bad times ahead.
Encouraging Doctors to lie on Death Certificates is very dangerous. The actual cause of death is import for many reasons. Family histories, insurance, estates, factual statistics, wills, newspaper-media obituaries, etc. I’m sure there are many more. Please add any that I have missed.
I heard a doctor’s nurse say that a D. C. should never report any assumptions as to the cause of death. Its ethical to mention multiple causes of a death but none of them can be mere conjecture, supposition or fanciful thinking.
On another note lets remember that vaccines for respiratory illnesses have a long history of false starts and ultimate failure.

I woke up this morning at 4:30 am with no ability to go back asleep. No matter what TV show you tune into, it’s corona virus wall to wall. It’s in practically every commercial and every TV show has a public service style announcement. It’s like all the Governors were those flocks of birds I saw once in Iowa. They flew in one of those undulating motions to and fro without crashing into each other. The birds didn’t need a meeting, they automatically know what to do. The only Governor I know of that is flying out of formation is South Dakota. Only thing that’s shut down is bars, restaurants and casinos. You said something about Georgia opening?
I have a friend that is pretty in tune down in Montrose, Colorado and he was warned of a possible power outage with the internet crashing for a few days soon. There was a fellow he ran into that had a permission slip to travel that said he was an essential power infrastructure repair guy. It’s not the first such permission slip to travel we have heard of. I am not saying it will happen, but it would be the ultimate time to close the Banks and impose marshal law. No power, no banks, no fuel and the grocery closed too. That would push people over the edge if this happens just days before re-opening.
You’ll have seen the film of a Mother in Meridian, Idaho being hauled away in handcuffs for the crime of taking her kids to the park. The police left her children unattended at the Park. It’s very difficult to wrap your head around this behavior. The only thing I can think of is the movie Robo-Cop. But even he had the ability to discern what is appropriate and what is despicable.
What is the point of shutting down the great outdoors? They want there to be no escape from the tyranny. That’s why they even barricaded backcountry skiing and snowmobile parking at Vail and Loveland Passes and did insane things like roping off park benches and play grounds. They want you to taste tyranny at every turn.

The author cites hospitalizations/deaths as the reliable numbers, ignoring that cause of death is now attributed to covid even if the patient died of something else.
Also today, Jon Rappoport quotes David Crowe’s paper, “Flaws in Coronavirus Pandemic Theory” and asks: “…have researchers actually found a new virus which they assert is the cause of a new pandemic, COVID-19?”
David Crowe: “Scientists are detecting novel RNA in multiple patients with pneumonia-like conditions, and are assuming that the detection of RNA (which is believed to be wrapped in proteins to form an RNA virus, as coronaviruses are believed to be) is equivalent to isolation of the virus. It is not, and one of the groups of scientists was honest enough to admit this”:
“‘we did not perform tests for detecting infectious virus in blood'” [2]
